Stop pathogens in their tracks before they enter your plant.

What if you could safely reduce pathogens from hides pre-harvest in just five minutes? You would be able to protect your customers from threats like E. coli O157:H7 and other Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) pathogens. By preventing these pathogens from sneaking into your plant on animal hides, you could also aid in reducing the estimated 265,000 infections that occur from STECs every year in the United States.

The proof is in the research.

In a study of multiple beef processing plants, the prevalence of E. coli O157 in fecal and hide samples was significantly correlated with carcass contamination. Ninety percent of lots with positive fecal samples also had positive pre-evisceration samples, while 100% of lots that had positive hide samples also had positive pre-evisceration samples.*

One solution to quick and effective pathogen control is using a pre-harvest hide wash. Finalyse from Arm & Hammer Animal and Food Production is a proven pre-harvest antimicrobial hide wash that uses naturally occurring phages to weaken the E. coli cell wall, replicate and lysis the cell, destroying additional bacteria on cattle hides.

Research shows Finalyse effectively reduced E. coli O157:H7 by >1.8Log CFU/g at an exposure time of just five minutes.* This study also showed that Finalyse reduced E. coli O157:H7 prevalence by 44% compared to the previous year and 37.4% compared to the 3-year average.

Further research showed that cattle treated with Finalyse exhibited a statistically significant decrease (P<0.01) in E. coli O157:H7 compared to controls at 45 minutes post-treatment.*

Safety first.

Employee and customer safety is a top priority at every plant. In most cases, choosing whether to use a hide wash can be a double-edged sword. You can’t risk a pathogen outbreak in your plant that could impact the health of your customers and put your workers at risk, but some hide wash products can be highly toxic to humans, creating an unsafe work environment.

Finalyse is the safe, effective solution you need. Whereas other hide wash products may use harmful chemicals, putting workers at risk, Finalyse is a proven product that harnesses naturally occurring phages developed specifically to impact E. coli O157:H7 and other STECs. This reliable mode of action also makes Finalyse easier on equipment, extending useful life and reducing the need for costly repairs.

Easy to use.

Applied as an overhead spray system in holding pens or lairage area, Finalyse and the Finalyse Application System™ can easily configure to current pre-harvest, hide-on spaces, making pathogen control quick and easy.

Checking all the boxes.

Combatting E. coli O157:H7 and other STECs is vital to protect the integrity of your products and to ensure safe food for consumption. Choosing a product that is safe for workers, easy on equipment, effective in just five minutes and easy to use ensures that you’re making the best choice to promote pathogen control and safety on your plant and beyond.
